Delta Plastics is proud to partner with the nation’s leaders in agriculture and conservation in our mission to preserve the Mississippi Delta’s irrigation water supply.
Since announcing the Delta Plastics H20 Initiative in August, we have worked alongside our stakeholders to begin a multi-state campaign to educate and arm farmers with the tools they deserve to bring 21st century sustainability practices to irrigation. Our dream is that every grower in the Delta has access to our free irrigation planning software Pipe Planner, and realizes the tremendous value this web-based technology can bring not only to water conservation, but to their bottom line.
We currently have over two-dozen partners representing Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Texas, Missouri as well as organizations with a national footprint. Their participation is invaluable and we simply could not reach our goal without their support, input and expertise.
In September, we formed a steering committee with key stakeholders to help maximum our success in promoting the widespread adoption of Pipe Planner. The committee’s role will be to facilitate a direct line of communication with growers in their respective areas and provide our company with constructive feedback on how we can achieve our goal of reducing irrigation water use by 20 percent within the Mississippi Delta by the year 2020.
We especially would like to highlight the academic partnership we have with our land grant universities – University of Arkansas Division of Agriculture, Mississippi State University and LSU AgCenter. Their extension offices will serve as an effective resource for growers who want to learn how they can benefit by using Pipe Planner.
On behalf of Delta Plastics, we say thank you to our wonderful partners. Together we can save water for future generations, preserve our farmlands and demonstrate to the world how one ambitious idea can produce incredible results.
